Willow at 10 weeks

So on thursday 19th August Willow turned 10 weeks. she is over 5 kilos in weight and had her 2nd lot of jabs on friday and also her microchip. but Willows biggest problem is her behaviour!

She does not like being told no to anything, that includes, touching things she isnt meant to, cewing my feet, tryingtto mouth or bite. she will actualy snarl and growl at us to get her own way. she isnt getting away with it though, she gets time out and she will eventualy come and appologise. the vet says it is normal but i dont think her growling to get her own way is good. we are being proactive in being more in charge with her. we are working on showing her we are the dominant people not her. we have always done this but as she seems to fight us all the way we have to step it up.

thagt said there have been some great moments with Willow recently. she had her first proper walk on friday, she walked into town. vet said she can walk on pavement not grass as she has anotehr jab to get in 6 weeks. she loved it and is actualy very good on her lead. she can also climb up on the sofa, beds and up the stairs and on friday she began to come down them herself to.

she got a new tunnel on saturday to play in.

she also likes sleeping with her new toy that mum bought her

Willow is back at the vets in two weeks for more worming and weighing and hopefully her behaviour will have improved or ill be asking the vet for more advice and we are hoping to get her into puppy training classes. Hopefully walks will help as well. its normal behaviour but behaviour we want to discorage.

some videos of willow playing with her toys

and her new task of trying to jump up on the sofa.

Growling

On Friday night willow started growling when she was being told not biting!
The vet has said that nibbling is fine for this age but biting is a no no we have told her all along NO when biting happens but on Friday afternoon she started to growl when told no - it is rather scary to see this lovable little thing growl at you! Apparently it is normal but it’s something we are going to nip it in the bud as Willow will be around children and if nothing else she needs to learn appropriate behaviour!

She did it a few times today, so she gets a time out! she also if its continues i.e. more than two growls we are to hold her on her back for a few seconds and say NO GROWLING to show her who is the boss as she thinks she is.

Found an interesting article on Bite Inhibition (http://www.dogstardaily.com/training/teaching-bite-inhibition) but have also found that labs are bad for biting and growling initially but I think we will still mention it to the vet on Friday!

Vets

Willow was at the vets this morning for her first check up!

The vet weighed her and she weighs 3.65 Kilos. The vet said that she has a perfect mouth and her jaw is looking good (apparently Labs can have issues with jaws). Willow has to go back next week to get her first jab and some worming granules as she needs to get wormed every two weeks at this age range.

She gets her jab on the 6th August and then two weeks later she gets her other jabs and gets her microchip done as well, then two weeks after that she can go for walks!

It is possible she has a sore tummy though but other than that willow is a happy little puppy.

She had lots of visitors yesterday, she had mums best friend and her grandchildren who bought her some toys, and then a friend from mums work came to see her and my friends came with toys for her. Lucky willow.

Tomorrow I am going to get her tag with her name on it.
